Gestalt Principles

According to Gestalt theory, the whole means something different from the sum of its parts. We perceive the things we see in their totality, not by decomposing the whole into its parts. The Gestalt principle is also known as the law of simplicity. This theory can be summarized as follows: "The whole is independent of the sum of its constituent parts." The Gestalt Principles, the main components of Gestalt theory, are used to explain visual perception in design. These principles are proximity, similarity, completion, symmetry, common fate, continuity, good gestalt and the principle of past experience.
