With Kuika’s WhatsApp Business integration, you can establish fast and secure communication with your users directly through WhatsApp. By integrating the WhatsApp Business API, you can professionally manage customer interactions and send interactive notifications using approved message templates. In this tutorial, you will learn step-by-step how to integrate the WhatsApp Business API into the Kuika platform.

To perform these steps, you must have an active Facebook Business account and WhatsApp Business API access.

To integrate WhatsApp Business:

  • Create a WhatsApp Business account via Facebook Business,
  • Create an app via Facebook for Developers,
  • Define integration settings through Kuika’s Configuration Manager module.
Create a WhatsApp Business Account
  1. Log in to your account at Facebook for Developers.
  2. Create a new app.
  3. Add the WhatsApp Business product to your app.
  4. Retrieve and note the following details from the app:
  • Name: The name assigned to your WhatsApp Business account.
  • Account ID: A unique identifier for your WhatsApp Business account.
  • App ID: The unique ID of your app created on Facebook.
  • App Secret: The secret key for securing your app.
  • Access Token: Used for authenticating access to the API (can be temporary or permanent).
  • Phone Number ID: The unique ID of the phone number linked to your WhatsApp account.
  • Version Number: The version of the WhatsApp API being used (e.g., v18.0).
Integrate WhatsApp Business via Kuika Configuration Manager
  1. Log in to the Kuika platform.
  2. Go to the Apps screen and select your project.
  1. Click on the Configuration Manager module in the left menu.
  2. Enter a configuration name and click the CREATE button.
  1. In the App Settings screen:
    • Go to Connection Settings → WhatsApp Business.
    • Click ADD NEW from the dropdown menu.
  1. Fill in the following fields in the pop-up window:
    • Name
    • Account ID
    • App ID
    • App Secret
    • Access Token
    • Phone Number ID
    • Version Number

Click the SAVE button to complete the setup.

Create a WhatsApp Message Template
  1. Go to the WhatsApp section in your Facebook Business Dashboard.
  2. Create a new message template and submit it for approval.
  3. Once approved, the template will automatically appear in Kuika.
  4. You can then use it via the Send WhatsApp Business Message action in Kuika.

Sample Template:

  • Header: About Your Offer Status
  • Message: Congratulations! Your process has been successfully completed. Please select one of the buttons below to let us know if you accept the offer.
  • Buttons:
    • I Accept
    • I Want to Decline

Template Types and Button Usage

  • Templates with buttons: Can only be used in steps assigned to external actions.
  • Templates without buttons: Can be used at any stage of the process.

Currently, Kuika supports only Quick Reply buttons. Other button types (e.g., Call to Action) are not supported.

Using Quick Reply Buttons

  • Buttons must be of the Quick Reply (custom) type.
  • Each button must be mapped to a mail interaction.
  • When clicked, the button continues the workflow based on the mapped interaction.
