Google Sign-In allows your users to sign in to your app quickly and securely using their Google accounts. To enable this feature, you must first create the necessary credentials in the Google Cloud Console, and then configure the Google Sign-In settings in the Kuika Config Manager module.
In this guide, you’ll learn step-by-step how to obtain the necessary information from the Google Cloud Console and how to set up Google Sign-In in Kuika.
Obtaining the Necessary Information from the Google Cloud Console
1. Create a Project
Go to https://console.cloud.google.com and sign in with your Google account.
If you haven’t created a project yet, click the Create Project button, give the project a name, and complete the creation process. If you want to use an existing project, select it from the project selector.
2. Create an OAuth Client ID
From the left menu, go to the APIs & Services > Credentials page.
Click the Create Credentials button and select the OAuth client ID option.
If you haven’t configured it yet, Google will first ask you to complete the OAuth consent screen settings.
Select the type that matches your app’s platform from the Application type field and complete the creation process:
Web application: Creates a Client ID and Client Secret.
Android: Creates a Client ID. During creation, you’ll be asked for your app’s package name and SHA-1 certificate fingerprint.
iOS: Creates a Client ID and an iOS URL Scheme. During creation, you’ll be asked for your app’s Bundle ID.
3. Make a Note of the Information
Make a note of the Client ID, Client Secret, and iOS URL Scheme for the OAuth clients you created. You’ll need this information when configuring Kuika.
Setting Up Google Sign-In in Kuika
1. Open or Create a Configuration
Log in to the Kuika platform.
From the Apps screen, open the project you’ll be working on.
Click the Config Manager module in the top menu.
To create a new configuration, click the Create a blank configuration card, give the configuration a name, and complete the creation process. If you want to use an existing configuration, click its name in the list.
2. Go to the Authentication & Authorization Settings
Make sure the App Settings tab is selected at the top of the configuration screen.
In the left menu, click the Authentication & Authorization option under the Identity & Access heading. You can also quickly access this setting by typing “google sign in” into the Search settings field at the top of the menu.
Click the ADD NEW link under the Google dropdown menu.
3. Fill Out the Google Login Settings Window
In the Google Login Settings window that opens, enter the information you obtained from the Google Cloud Console into the corresponding fields:
Name (required): An identifying name for the configuration.
Client ID (required): The client ID provided by Google.
Client Secret (required): The secret key provided by Google.
Server Client ID (required): The server-side client ID.
Server Client Secret: The server-side secret key.
iOS URL Scheme: The URL scheme used for iOS apps.
After entering the information, click the CREATE button to create the configuration.
4. Save the Settings
Select the configuration you created from the Google dropdown menu.
Make sure you’ve filled out all required fields completely and correctly.
Click the SAVE button in the top-right corner to save your changes.
Once you’ve completed these steps, Google Sign-In integration will be ready for use in your app.
Important Tips
Store your Client Secret securely and do not share it with anyone.
If you’re publishing your app on multiple platforms, you may need to create a separate OAuth client for each platform in the Google Cloud Console.
Before going live, test the Google Sign-In flow separately on the web, Android, and iOS.
