Data Source Connection with Rest API

Working with the REST API Data Source

About this lesson

You can connect to your existing Rest APIs in applications developed with Kuika. You can use Rest APIs as data sources in your project and use the methods in Rest API as functions or actions.

REST (Representational State Transfer) is an architectural principle that enables web services to communicate. REST API refers to web services that follow these architectural principles. REST APIs operate over the HTTP protocol and enable systems to exchange data with each other.

REST APIs enable data sharing between different software systems. For example, an application can use a REST API to access a customer database, connect to an external payment system, or retrieve weather information from a third-party service.

With Kuika, you can quickly and easily connect Rest APIs to your applications as data sources and use them through the Datasources module. To add a new data source with Rest API, simply click on the “+” icon in the module. Select the Rest API option on the screen that opens and name it to access the connection screen.

To connect a data source with Rest API, you need to define the Service Base URL information on this screen. After defining the Service Base URL information, you will be asked to enter the authorization information for the Rest API. During the authorization information definition process, you can select one of the options No Auth, Bearer, Basic, and API Key and define the required information and parameters.

After the relevant definition, you can create the data source connection with Rest API by using the CREATE button in the upper right corner.

After establishing the connection to the data source with the Rest API, you can integrate the methods in the Rest API data source into your application by defining Endpoints through the Actions field in the relevant data source.

REST APIs offer a powerful and flexible way to integrate your applications with external data sources. Thanks to Kuika's smart development platform, you can easily define REST API connections and manage your application's data flow. A properly configured REST API integration enhances your application's functionality, providing a more dynamic, scalable, and efficient experience. This enables you to work seamlessly with existing systems, retrieve data from external services, and automate your business processes. With Kuika's flexible and user-friendly interface, you can quickly implement REST API connections and develop powerful, highly integrated applications.
