Add Data Source Connectivity to Your App with Google Blockly

1. Log in to the Kuika platform and open the project you’ll be working on from the Apps screen.
2. Click the Datasources icon on the top navigation bar.
3. On the Datasources main screen, click the Create a Function card and select the Google Blockly option under the Development category. You can also access the same list by clicking the + icon next to the Sources heading in the left panel.

4. In the form that opens, enter a name for the data source in the Name field.
5. Click the CREATE button.

The data source you created is added to the Sources list in the left panel, and the Google Blockly editor opens.

Anatomy of the Google Blockly Editor

Top area: The name of the action (Blockly_Action1 by default) appears in the top-left corner. You can change the name using the pencil icon next to it, or return to the Datasources screen using the back button (←) on the left. The CREATE button in the top right saves the action.

Block categories: The categories into which blocks are grouped are listed on the left side of the editor: Logic, Loops, Math, Text, Lists, Color, Variables, Functions, and Kuika Parameters. When you click a category, the blocks in that category are displayed.

Workspace: This is the dotted area where you drag and drop blocks. By default, the Main Function block is located in the workspace. Place the blocks that the action will execute inside this block; connect the value that the action will return to the block’s return input.

Trash can: Blocks dragged into the trash can in the lower-right corner are deleted.

Steps for creating a function with blocks:

1. Select the block you want to use from the categories on the left.
2. Drag the block into the workspace and place it inside the Main Function block.
3. Connect values and other blocks to each other as needed.
4. Connect the value to be returned to the return input.
5. Click the CREATE button to save the action.
