Location Search Usage Scenario

Location Search Usage Scenario

Kuika's Location Search element allows users to find a specific location on a map. The user types in the name of the place they want to search for, and the system marks that location on the map. It is used in scenarios such as venue search, route determination, or location-based listing.

The Location Search element can be used in both web and mobile applications.

Areas of Use

  • Address or venue search in map-based applications
  • Route creation and destination setting
  • Finding nearby businesses, cafes, or hotels
  • Location-based data filtering

Use Case – Cafe Search

In a mobile application, a user uses the Location Search element to find cafes near their current location.

In the scenario:

  • The user sees a search bar titled “Location Search” at the top of the screen.
  • When they type the word “Café,” the nearest cafes are listed on the map.
  • A red pin (location marker) appears on the map.
  • The search results are displayed as a list at the bottom:
    • “Vanilla Cafe #1” → 144 Street, Paris
    • “Vanilla Cafe #2” → 5002 Street, Versailles
  • The user can click on a result to be redirected to the details page.

UI Design Module Operations

  • The search result is displayed with a pin on the map.
  • The café list in the lower section is updated dynamically.
  • The user can click on a café to go to the details page.

Limitations

  • Location Search requires an internet connection and a Google Maps API key.
  • When not used with a map, it only displays text-based results.
  • Search results may be limited on mobile devices if GPS permissions are not granted.

Tips and Best Practices

  • Use descriptive placeholders for clear user guidance (“Search nearby cafés, hotels, or shops”).
  • Highlight the location pin on the map with bold colors.
  • Displaying search results in list format enhances the user experience.
  • Keep the Allow Clear feature enabled to enable quick repeat searches.
