The Google Task Clear Completed Tasks action is used to collectively delete all tasks marked as completed in a specific task list (taskListId). It allows the user to clear the list without the hassle of manual deletion.

Technical Specifications

  • Function: Clears all completed tasks in the specified task list.
  • Parameters:
    • settings (Object – required): Google Tasks API settings.
    • taskListId (String – required): The ID of the list containing the tasks to be cleared.
  • Result: Singular (One) → Returns an output indicating whether the operation was successful or if an error occurred.

Value Binding

  • Fixed Value: The Task List ID can be entered manually.
  • Dynamic value: The list ID selected by the user or from the result of a previous action can be used.

Google Task Clear Completed Tasks Application Steps

  1. Open your project on the Kuika platform.
  2. Go to the UI Design module and navigate to the task management screen.
  3. Select + ADD ACTION → Google → Google Task Clear Completed Tasks.
  1. Configure Parameters:
    • settings: Select Google Tasks connection settings.
    • taskListId: Specify which task list to clear (e.g., “MyTasks123”).
  2. When the action is executed, all completed tasks in the relevant list are removed.
  3. Tasks that are not yet completed are not affected.

Usage Scenario: “Bulk Clear Completed Tasks”

When a user notices they have more than 50 completed tasks in their “To-Do” list:

  • taskListId = ‘DailyTasks’ is entered.
  • The user clicks the “Clear” button.
  • The action runs → All completed tasks in the list are deleted.
  • The user continues to see only open (uncompleted) tasks.

Google Task Clear Completed Tasks Advanced Customizations

  • Dynamic List Selection: When the user selects a task list from the dropdown menu, taskListId can be automatically assigned.
  • Automatic Cleaning: Can be triggered to automatically delete completed tasks at specific intervals (e.g., weekly).
  • Send Notification: A success message or email can be sent to the user when cleaning is complete.

Technical Risks and Controls

  • If taskListId is left blank, the action will not work.
  • This action only deletes completed tasks; open tasks are preserved.
  • Deleted tasks cannot be recovered → It may be useful to display a warning to the user in the application.
  • API quota limits (Google Tasks API) must be taken into account.
